LPG – the ideal fuel for holiday parks and park homes

With summer drawing to a close, autumn fast approaching and schools reopening, whilst the season now continues to extend throughout the year, the busiest part of the holiday season is coming to an end. With the current cost of living crisis deepening and fuel costs rising, despite the new price cap for homes and businesses announced by our new Prime Minister Liz Truss last week, now is an ideal time to consider how you fuel your park homes or holiday park, what you’re paying and whether you’re getting the reliable service you deserve and is so necessary to the smooth running of your business.

We know as well as you that when staying at a holiday park, your guests will be looking for some real home comforts – a home away from home. The importance of making sure your customers feel cozy and comfortable cannot be underestimated and, as we all know, heating, on-tap hot water and a ready gas supply for cooking all contribute to the enjoyment of your guests. No one wants to be cold, or run out of hot water when taking a shower!

Whether you own or manage your park homes or holiday park, LPG is the ideal energy solution, and the next best thing to mains gas. It provides hot water, central heating and controllable cooking in just the same way. And it's safe too - so important to caravan gas safety! In this blog we will take a look at why that is, as well as how a tailored LPG solution can help reduce your costs and your carbon emissions too.

So, why choose LPG?

As we have already said, LPG is the next best thing to mains gas, which is why it has become a more and more popular choice for fuelling off-grid holiday parks and park homes. It is such a versatile energy source that it not only can be used to heat your park homes and caravans, it can also be used to heat swimming pools, for powering laundry facilities and for on-site hospitality areas such as restaurants, clubhouses or bars. And when it comes to cooking, commercial gas gives your chefs complete control. It burns with a visible blue flame that provides instant heat and can be turned up and down in an instant, unlike electricity where hobs can take much longer to heat up and cool down, and can’t be used at all in the event of a power cut.

An environmentally friendly option, LPG, also known as liquified petroleum gas, burns cleanly, emitting almost no black carbon, meaning cleaner, fresher air for your visitors, as well as helping you reduce your carbon emissions and meet your energy efficiency targets. It does not pollute the air as much as many other energy sources as it has low particle emissions, low NOx emissions and low sulphur content, and is completely safe when stored and used correctly. On top of all that, it’s highly efficient and cost-effective so can help you save on running costs too – so important in these challenging times when the cost of energy is a major concern for millions of UK households and businesses throughout the UK.

Not only that, but with bulk LPG you get a consistent and reliable supply of energy – always! A state-of-the-art telemetry system will monitor in real time the level of LPG in your tank and trigger a top up when you need it, so you never need worry about running out of fuel, and can get on with the important job of running your business.

Thinking of changing to LPG?

We appreciate that disruption is something that few businesses can afford. At Northern Energy, we aim to ensure that there is as little downtime to your site as possible, either when installing your new LPG bulk tanks, or when making any changes to existing installations and pipework.

Our in-house LPG engineering team provide a bespoke service, working closely with you so the individual requirements of your business can be catered for, and can project manage the whole installation if you’re changing to bulk LPG from another fuel source.

Low maintenance LPG tanks can be buried underground so you don’t need to worry about spoiling the look of your park and blocking views, keeping your park picturesque – and out of site is out of mind! Plus you can maximise the units on your park as the underground LPG tanks won’t take up valuable above-ground space.

The bulk LPG is then piped to each individual caravan, holiday home or log cabin via a network of underground pipes and individual meters can be fitted where required. Plus ongoing regular inspection and servicing of your equipment, all carried out by fully-qualified GAS SAFE engineers and compliant with Health and Safety requirements will give you complete peace of mind, keep you operating safely and keep your equipment in tip-top condition.
