We're pleased to be able to advise that the government has now launched the Non-Domestic Alternative Fuel Payment portal for companies that have not yet received their £150 AFP payment to support off-grid businesses with their heating costs. Companies have until Friday 28th April to apply for the payment.
You can apply for this payment if:
- The property is not connected to the gas grid
- The property is not connected to the electricity grid
- You purchased alternative fuels for use at the property between September 2022 and January 2023
In addition, companies that use over 10,000 litres are eligible for extra payments and can claim top-up payments of up to £5,800. Payments will be tiered according to usage, with bespoke arrangements for users that use over 150,000 litres a year.
Please note - this payment is NOT made through your oil or LPG supplier.
Businesses with non-domestic properties connected to the electricity grid will receive £150 automatically through their electricity supplier. Off-grid businesses that don't automatically receive the payment can apply for a fixed alternative fuel payment of £150 through the portal.
We recommend you apply now as the portal closes on 28th April 2023!
Click here to make an application.
N.B. You will need about 40 minutes to complete it, and your application must be filled out in one session. You cannot save the form and return to it later. To apply for multiple properties, you must submit separate applications for each property.
To apply for the top up payment, companies will need to provide the following:
- Proof of address
- An organisation or business registration number such as Companies House number or a registered charity number, if applicable
- Proof of purchase
- UK bank or building society account details
- An email address
- One invoice that proves your purchase of alternative fuels for use at the property, dated between September 2022 to January 2023
If you are applying for the high users top up payment, you must provide:
- Invoices that prove your purchase of over 10,000 litres of kerosene (heating oil) for use as a fuel on site at the property covering the 12 months for 1st September 2021 to 31st August 2022
- The Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) of the electricity meter that supplies the property, if it is connected to the electricity grid. You can find this on the property's electricity bill.
