We’re here to help

Northern Energy began when our founder first helped a local farmer get his milk to the dairy back in 1932. Since then, we’re still every bit as helpful. So much so that we don’t believe in working for you but working with you.

Our team of experts are experienced across a full range of industries and sectors. In fact, whatever the business, we’ll have expertise in the best kind of oil or LPG for its needs. In addition, we’ll also know what legislation needs to be met, and keep businesses updated if and when any changes come along that they should be aware of.

Our aim is to give customers peace of mind that their supply of fuel, whether it's kerosene, gas oil or DERV, or even LPG, is in professional hands. And that we understand the needs of meeting all government safety guidelines. In addition, we’re also here to improve how businesses use their fuel. Which means advising on the best ways to keep it secure and how to operate in the most environmentally efficient way possible to improve your green credentials. We even offer advice on how to cut your fuel costs.

A team you can trust

When we say our customer service team is on hand to help, we mean it. We don’t have an outsourced call centre covering all the calls. We prefer a more personal service and so do the businesses who use us. It’s why we don’t keep you waiting on hold. You wouldn’t do it to your customers, and we won’t do it to you. And when we take your call, our local in-house team know your business and where it is. Which is why when we schedule a delivery of fuel, it will arrive as promised and on time.

This is thanks to the fact that we have our own drivers. We don’t sub-contract. This means they know the area they deliver around and who they deliver to. So, from Barnard Castle to Keithley and Middleton-in-Teesdale to Burgh le Marsh, they don’t just know where every business is based, but how best to get to it. Which makes all the difference in difficult weather.

Flexibility when you need it

Whether we’re supplying kerosene, gas oil (also known as tractor diesel), DERV or LPG, we understand the importance of being flexible. After serving businesses across all of Yorkshire, north, south, east and west, as well as Tyne & Wear, Northumberland, Durham and Lincolnshire, we know that the only thing you can expect is the unexpected (Check our full list of delivery locations at the end of this article). All businesses have their ups and down, something coming out of the blue. Rest assured, we’re by your side every step of the way. If you have a sudden influx of work which means you suddenly need a refill of fuel, we’ll pull out all the stops to make sure your business doesn’t come to a stop. And as we provide delivery notifications, you’ll know exactly when we’ll be with you.

Also, thanks to our automatic delivery service, busy business owners don’t have the hassle of having to place an order or the worry of running out of power. Instead, they can get on with the important work of running their company while we do the rest.

Experts in your sector

We’ve vast experience across a host of difference sectors. For example, when it comes to farming and agriculture, we understand the changing needs of each season and how important fuel is for the smooth running of a farm. Thanks to our in-depth knowledge of each area we deliver to, we also understand the different fuel needs of different types of farming. For example, the needs of an arable farmer in Lincolnshire are different from a cattle and sheep farm in County Durham.

Our expertise supplying fuel to the hospitality industry is every bit as specialised. Whether it’s a small B&B in Goole, public house in Nottingham or holiday park in Mickleton, we’re here for what is a 24-hour industry. Rest assured, we make sure that service sector customers have the fuel they need to keep guests warm, fed and happy.

The same goes for industrial fuel and commercial fuel use. For example, LPG is the perfect choice for powering forklift trucks. It’s actually a cleaner, more flexible and more cost-effective alternative to both diesel and electric options. Such is our expertise in this field, that we even help businesses swap over to using it rather than their more expensive existing forklifts. Our team of qualified Gas Safe engineers will install a bulk refuelling unit on any premises quickly and efficiently for minimal disruption, if any. They’ll then regularly inspect and service it for trouble-free running.

Another area which favours LPG is industries which require high temperatures, for example in metal melting. Here again, we can use our vast knowledge to advise when and where LPG is the ideal choice thanks to its high calorific value. Then work with a business to ensure that their exact needs are best met for efficiency and value in one.
