In this blog, we’re going to tell you a little bit about ourselves and our history, from when we first began to where we are today, and take a look at what makes us different to other LPG suppliers, and why you should switch to us.
From humble beginnings
We were first established in 1932 by Ralph Robinson, who was the grandfather of our Chairman, Howard Illingworth, and the great-grandfather of our Managing Director, Stuart Illingworth. Stuart's two brothers, James and Ted, work alongside him helping to run the business - so you can see, it really is a family affair!
Based in Hampsthwaite, near Harrogate, which is a small village on the edge of the Yorkshire dales, Ralph began collecting milk from local farmers and supplying coal to the local community. Some years later, in 1957, the company made the move to supply oil to the same market, and the business grew from strength to strength, moving into the LPG market in 1979.
Over the years we’ve grown our delivery area to include Northumberland and Nottinghamshire, Lancashire and Lincolnshire, and many other counties throughout the north. And then in 2015, we expanded into the North West of England, into the Dumfries and Galloway areas of Southern Scotland, and south into East Anglia and the Midlands. From these humble beginnings, we are now proud to be one of the largest independent suppliers of oil and bulk LPG throughout the North of England. And whilst a lot has changed over the years, our commitment to our customers hasn’t.
